Saint Charles Athletic Football Club had a humble beginning it began operations as a football academy on july 28,2017. This occured following the identification of youthful talents in the college football competition known as the 'Future Legend Cup' which was organized by club's C.E.O. Mr. Charles Isichei.

The initial and subsequent iterations of the tournament were successful. Several football talents were unearthed during the competition's initial edition.

The main goal of the club's Chief Executive Officer in hosting the soccer tournament was to identify raw talent at the grassroots level and use the discoveries to build a powerful soccer academy. This was a significant step in the right direction, as the concept eventually led to the establishment of the football academy. The soccer academy was founded in 2017 by sixty players who were selected from the many schools that competed in the competition. On may 21, 2021, the club was officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a Limited Liability Company as a full-fledged football club. Currently the club features academy players 10 to 19 and a senior team.
